Air France, Don't Ship Primates to Cruel Laboratory Experiments!

Primates are sensitive, intelligent animals who feel pain and fear just like humans do. Air France shouldn't be shipping them to laboratories to be cruelly subjected to experiments!

Air France: Stop Transporting Primates to Labs!

Dear Friends, 

Every year, more than 10,000 primates are flown to the United States, often from countries as far away as Indonesia or Malaysia. When they reach their destinations, they'll be subjected to cruel, often fatal experiments. These primates and apes may not be humans, but they can still feel pain, fear and suffering -- and they should be treated with respect and compassion.

In order to get the animals from one place to another, handlers will often stuff them into tiny wooden crates and stow them in dark, cold cargo holds. Some of the monkeys were bred on farms; others were snatched from their families in the wild. Either way, they're all on their way to have electrodes implanted in their brains, burning chemicals dripped into their eyes or metal rods screwed into their skulls.</ a>

Because of the cruelty of primate experiments, many airlines refuse to transport them altogether. Unfortunately, Air France is not one of them. If we take away the means to bring monkeys and apes to these laboratories, scientists will hopefully be forced to use other, more humane methods of experimentation -- and some of these animals can be saved in the future.

We have to act to stop the cycle of cruelty. Ask Air France to stop transporting primates for laboratory experiments!
